GUARITAS

Em suas guaritas, os vigilantes noturnos se impõem como alternativas falaciosas ao colapso da segurança pública brasileira. São pequenos 'cárceres' isolados ao longo das ruas, criados para ingenuamente velar a inexistência de proteção do Estado. 

Mais que produtos da violência urbana, esses espaços se transformam em pequenas casas imersas no vazio da noite.

Esse ensaio capta a vida - ou a ausência dela - nestes lugares, mostra quem os habita, e em que condições.

A intenção é desvendar esse cenário e sua sensação ilusória de segurança. As vidas confinadas nessas micro-células são retratos da fragilidade, da solidão e do despreparo.

 

GUARDHOUSE

Trapped inside their guardhouses, the night watchmen in Brazil are used as a way to compensate for the lack of public security in the country. They are confined to these small "cells" isolated along the streets, created as a naïve response to the nonexistent protection offered by the state.

More than products of urban violence, these spaces are converted into small homes spreading along the emptiness of the night.

This showing captures the life - or the absence of it - in order to show who habits them and under what conditions. The intention is to revel this scenario and the illusionary sense of security. The lives confined to these micro cells are portraits of the fragility, loneliness and the lack of preparation.
